About Us
RockBandRelief.org is a fundraising initiative originally developed in response to the May 2010 flooding in Nashville, Tennessee. The mission of RockBandRelief.org is to convert songs submitted by participating musicians into playable tracks for the Rock Band video game series. These tracks are then sold through the Rock Band Network (RBN) in-game store and on the Xbox LIVE® Marketplace website, with a portion of the profits being donated to the American Red Cross to support their worldwide disaster relief efforts.
RockBandRelief.org enables musicians to have their songs authored, tested and submitted to the Rock Band Network free of charge in exchange for a 50/50 split of any commissions earned from the sale of those songs through the Rock Band store. Any portion of the sales commission which the artist chooses to donate to the Red Cross, up to 100%, will be matched by RockBandRelief.org.
The amount donated varies by song and is at the discretion of the artist and their management. With matching in place, the final donation will vary from 5% - 30% of the total purchase price of the song. Songs range in price from $1 to $3 and are purchased for download from the Rock Band 3 in-game store.
Revenue from sales of any items through our Store Page via the Amazon Associates program will be donated at 100%.
Artists have the opportunity to opt out of donation, on a song-by-song basis, at the end of each fiscal quarter at the discretion of the individual artists or their management. When an artist opts out of donation for a given song, promotion of that song as part of the RockBandRelief.org campaign will be retired from the RockBandRelief.org website, accompanying social networking sites, the artist’s website(s) and any other promotional or marketing collateral where applicable.
We hope to see major label acts and pre-label indie artists showcasing their music side-by-side in support of this exciting relief effort.
